Chris Pacholczak
I didn’t have a clue about who was listening to me.
Recently after sharing a message, a young lady approached me for a handshake. I shake many hands per week. But this one was different. There was a folded piece of paper in her hand. She looked me in the eyes and left quickly.
Over the years, since I’m a pastor (that is, I’m not “rolling in the dough”) I’ve received cash handshakes from thoughtful supports at critical times. But this handshake was the most valuable one I’ve ever received. The note read: “Thank you. You have given me a reason to keep living.”
The thought had not crossed my mind while I was delivering the message that somebody in the crowd could be thinking of taking their life, and that my message could in fact be a difference maker in a matter of life or death. But it did. I hadn’t a clue.
I believe one day, when death itself dies and complete redemption of the cosmos arrives, countless stories such as this will be shared and celebrated. Ever wonder what stories will be shared with you one day about how you made a critical difference in someone’s life? Let that kind of wonder motivate your life, relationships, and responsibilities today.
And if you are the young lady who wrote that little note, I say to you, “thank you.” You have made a difference in my life that I’m sure will keep making a difference in many more lives. Your thoughtful expression of appreciation will save others. May God give you everything you need to hold on to Him through whatever battle(s) you are facing. He will never, ever leave you or forsake you. Just hold on. God bless you.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people….
